New Canadian website teaches kids to be safe and responsible texters

The Canadian Centre for Child Protection and the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) have joined forces to create a new website – textEd.ca designed to teach teens to be safe, responsible and respectful users of texting technologies.

The interactive site includes games, quizzes, and discussion pages and is mainly targeted to educating youth on using technology safely in light of the growing sexting phenomenon, teaching teens about the consequences of sexting. The site includes tips on dealing with textual harassers.

There are 100 million text messages sent daily in Canada, this translates to over 3 billion per year.
