MTV launches digital awareness campaign

The MTV music channel has launched its A Thin Line campaign, which aims to educate youngsters about their digital behavior and the dangers of sexting and cyber bullying.

The campaign will run for a number of years, with initial plans for an MTV News special on sexting, an episode of its True Life documentary series touching on the subject, and various Public Service Announcements designed to connect with youngsters.

MTV and the Associated Press recently commissioned a study on the problem of digital abuse. Of the 1,200 youngsters aged 14 to 24 who were questioned 50 percent were found to have been the target of digital abuse, while 30 percent had sent or received naked pictures of themselves or others via text or online.
